ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSE (NURSE PRACTITIONER)

About the Position: This position is located at Madigan Army Medical Center, Primary Care, Internal Medicine, Tacoma, WA. Advance in Hire MAY be authorized. This is available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Recruitment or relocation incentives MAY be authorized for highly qualified candidates. Advanced Leave accrual MAY be authorized This is a Direct Hire Authority solicitation.

Serve as a direct primary health care provider in the capacity of a credentialed Nurse Practitioner to provide primary care services.

Health management with responsibility for the independent examination, diagnosis, and treatment within personal credentials and privileges delineated by the Military Treatment Facility (MTF).

Perform a variety of complex duties involving the full range of medical care that involves isolating and defining unknown medical conditions.

Secure health and medical history from the patient or family member, record findings and make clinical evaluations.

Plan with other professionals, and agencies involved in providing primary care services to patients and their family members, and coordinates the primary care provided.

Examine patient and performs initial patient work-up and assessment of patient's care and treatment; determines the need for and orders laboratory tests, X-rays and other procedures necessary to complete assessment of the patient.

Prescribe for and treat a variety of diseases, disorders and injuries, treats patients returning for routine or directed follow-up and treatment of chronic illnesses previously documented in patients’ medical records.

Participate in disease management which includes the following conditions: hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes mellitus, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure and/or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
